What to look for when booking contractor accommodation

Location

Location is possibly the most important factor when looking for accommodation. You can tick every other factor below however if the accommodation is nowhere near where you want to be, then it won’t be suitable!

Local amenities are a good thing to look for, such as shops and supermarkets. You or your team will not want to travel a million miles away simply to get some milk and bread after a hard days work.

Another thing to consider is public transport. You may want to save some time by commuting by train if possible to save time and possibly do some work on the journey if you are super busy!

Other things to consider regarding location are hospitals, suppliers/trades stores, road links, close-to city centre/town, & crime rate.

Quality

Once you have got the right location, the next important factor is quality. 

Are you traveling on business and need somewhere to relax and prepare for an important meeting the next day? 

Or are you booking somewhere for your team to set up camp for the next few weeks/months?

Either way most people don’t like staying at accommodation that dirty, smelly and a mess!

Price

The next important factor after the above is price.

You can find the correct location and perfect quality however, if the price doesn’t fit in your budget then this may not be suitable!

So you may be thinking “Well how do I know what price is suitable for the correct accommodation?”

This will vary between properties and areas so you will have to find a few suitable properties and compare prices.

This may take some time however it is crucial to make sure you aren’t paying more than you should be. This is another benefit of Greenwins Relocations, we carry out this due diligence for you.

Facilities

Depending on you and your teams needs, the facilities required may vary.

Do you require WiFi? If so, it is also a good idea to have a look at the speed, typically the faster the better.

Another thing to look for is parking. If you have a vehicle or vehicle’s then you will need somewhere to park these and you want to avoid having to find a last minute parking facility that may charge per hour.

Will you and your team require a kitchen and cooking facilities? This may allow you to save money on your budget rather than eating out every night at costly restaurants.

You may also want to take into consideration how many bathrooms there are in the property. This may save you and your team time while waiting for each other to finish in the bathroom. 

For example if there is only 1 bathroom between 5 people. In the morning it may take 20 minutes per person to have a shower and get ready for work. This means in total it will take 1 hour and 40 minutes! So you may wish to look for 2 or more bathrooms to save time.

Other facilities to consider are a washing machine, dryer, dish washer, kettle, microwave, smart TV, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, etc.

You will be surprised at how many properties don’t actually offer the above essentials!

 Finding the right accommodation isn’t all that simple and may require some time to narrow down to the most suitable for you & your team.
